An Ageing Population

  Posted on   by   No comments

You would have heard it by now, that Britain has an ageing population. What this means is that people are living longer and less children are being born. Less children means the potential of less taxes being paid and a smaller work force in the future. As a result, the pension age increases as there are not enough people in the work force. Taxes and the cost-of-living increase, consequently fuelling a viscous cycle, where more people feel that they can’t afford to have children. The answer to an ageing population by the mainstream media and left-wing politics is mass immigration. The thought process behind it is, ‘if we get more people from abroad the money problems can be solved and we get more skilled workers in the process too.’ While we would all like lower taxes and more skilled workers, an open border at this point in British history would be hugely problematic. When you add an increase of immigration to the attack on the Christian foundations in this country, what you have left is a culture that is dying and the erosion of the Christian foundations that this nation is built upon.

The birth rate has fallen to between 1.49 per English couple, whereas families from the middle eastern Islamic countries are having 3 or 4 children per family. If things continue, it will be a mathematical certainty that England, like France and many other places in Europe, will become a Muslim majority nation. In Birmingham, an Islamic Party has started and is looking for a place in Parliament. One of the leaders of the party Ahkmed Yakoob said, ‘70% of hell will be women.’ His partner, Shakeel Afsarthey said on a podcast, “that they are not here to take part, they are here to take over.”

In addition to this our churches have an ageing population. Many churches are destined to close and turn into Mosques, as a new generation turns their back on God. New age churches, which do attract young people, look more like concerts then a gathering of believers seeking to know God’s Word. What is the biblical answer to this?

1. Have more children and disciple them.

We have been told that children are a problematic, inconvenient expense. We see people in the poorest nations in the world have plenty of children and enjoy them. While we are some of the richest people in the world and we say we can’t afford children and scorn the ones we have because they have ruined our lifestyle. When Israel went into Canaan, God’s instruction was to be fruitful. When they are in exile God tells them to be fruitful. He says this so they won’t disappear as a people group. Christian men and women need to have more children and raise them in the way of the Lord. The home is the first point of evangelism and fathers are commanded to raise their children in is discipline and instruction of the Lord. The book of Judges is a byproduct of a new generation not knowing God who delivered their Fathers from Egypt. Children must be disciplined, discipled, and dispatched as a preservative salt, and a light pointing to Christ in a dark world.

2. Share the gospel.

Research from Savanta ComRes, shows only 49% of adult Christians believe that evangelism is important. Out of that 49%,one in five consider themselves to be active in their faith. Praying for lost souls to hear the gospel but never speaking to an unbeliever about the gospel is like asking for sand in a desert but never putting your hand to the ground. Immigration has provided people from every nation and tongue to hear the gospel.

Let us use our present liberty to reach all image bearers of God with the gospel. Let us affirm the importance of a biblical worldview to our youth and disciple them. Let us pray for revival, so that we may truly be a united kingdom across all ages and ethnicities, in Christ.
