Christmas at Days Lane

We believe that the birth of Jesus is something to celebrate because of what Jesus did when he became a man. The things that he taught – to love your enemy and turn the other cheek – have transformed lives across the world. Living his way restores broken personal relationships because it ends the vicious cycle of mutual revenge.

But Jesus did not only teach about our relationships to each other, he also taught about our relationship to God. It is only possible to know what life is for if you know the God who made you. And the only way to know God is through Jesus, because, as he said: “I and the Father are one.” This is why Jesus is able to offer the answers to life’s questions to those who come to him.

He said:

“I am the light of the world. He who follows me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” (John 8:12)

“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6)

“Come to me, all you who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)

and even: “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me, though he may die, he shall live.” (John 11:25)

It is not an exaggeration to say that Jesus is the greatest man who has ever lived; yet many people have only a hearsay knowledge of his life and teachings.

The Bible today is readily accessible as a book, or online, or even as a phone app. Please, be sure that you get a proper understanding of Jesus’ message by reading the eyewitness accounts of his life recorded in the gospels of the New Testament. The Gospel of John is a good place to start.
